Hmong Association, Inc (HAI) cordially invites all business, individuals, organizations, and governmental agencies to sponsor our annual Hmong New Year Festival on November 6th & 7th, 2010 in Leach, Oklahoma. This two day event is the only of its kind in the area and draws over 7,000 people locally and from different states throughout the country.

There is a significant Hmong population that has moved into the NW Arkansas and NE Oklahoma, many who are engaged in poultry and other industries locally.  The Hmong are an ethnic minority from Laos who resettled in the United States mainly as refugees after the Vietnam War.  This New Year event is the only holiday that the Hmong people celebrate and traditionally represents after a long year, the celebration of the contributions of families and communities.  HAI’s role in the community is to facilitate, promote and preserve pride, history, culture, and heritage of the Hmong; to offer direction, mutual support, strength, and hope; and to provide advocacy and social services through networking with agencies in Arkansas and other states, while also recognizing and supporting other immigrant and refugee populations.  Through this mission we are the voice for supporting the community in this area. 

The two day event will include countless activities for people to engage in such as a full day stage program, traditional ball tossing, traditional dancing and singing, a number of sports tournaments including soccer and volleyball.  There will also be a large showing of different vendors highlighting arts, crafts, film, and music.  To top it all off there will also be an evening celebration concert with invited guest including the local mayor and other decision makers.
